The City of Vancouver is seeking a skilled Architectural Technician I to join our team. Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the xwméðkwéyç (Musqueam), Sµkwçwümésh (Squamish), and sélilwétaül (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples, Vancouver has a commitment to becoming a City of Reconciliation.

This is a technical office and field work position involving the preparation and maintenance of conceptual plans, working drawings, and record drawings for the construction or renovation of civic buildings and facilities.

Main Purpose & Function

This position will prepare and/or maintain a variety of records, files, reports, specifications, and record drawings of all City buildings and related structures; manage data and drawing archives; and prepare architectural renderings, layouts, charts, and visual aid material to be used in presentations to management and Council.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Courses in Building Technology, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have considerable knowledge of architectural drafting methods, practices, and techniques, including computer-aided-drafting and specification preparation; considerable knowledge of the building design principles, methods, and techniques and of the building and fire codes, regulations, and by-laws applicable to the work performed.

A Police Record Check is a requirement of this position. A clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.

Drivers License and Record Checks

Candidates must attach the following records and satisfy the City's driving requirements to be considered for this role:

  • Copy of your three-year ICBC Commercial Driver's Abstract (N Print) directly from ICBC dated within 30 days of this posting
  • Copy of your three-year ICBC Driver's Claims History directly from ICBC within 30 days of this posting
  • If you have less than three years driving experience in BC, a request must be made for out of province/country abstract and claims history

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
