About the Role

Armco Capital Inc., a diversified group of companies, is seeking an experienced Power Systems Maintenance Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Job Summary

The Power Systems Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of all building-related systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for planned and emergency work, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Assign and monitor maintenance activities and projects among building operators, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Work closely with building operations teams to improve service delivery to tenants, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, supplies, and materials, ensuring adequate stock levels to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Perform and mentor building operators on preventive maintenance duties and inspections, adhering to equipment manufacturer recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain effective building-specific maintenance procedures, recommending improvements to the preventive maintenance program.
  • Work towards improving energy efficiency while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and customer concerns, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives related to building operations, practicing safe work habits at all times.
  • Keep management informed of current building operations, providing regular updates and insights.
  • Assist with budget preparations, including vendor proposals, expense analysis, and compilation of materials for management.
  • Schedule, track, and report required safety training for building operators, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Adhere to uniform dress code while working on the property and during visits.
Requirements
  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with a minimum of five years of related experience and/or trade school training.
  • A valid 'Universal' level certification for CFC and HFC based refrigerants (EPA Section 608); to service, repair, or dispose of equipment that could release ozone-depleting refrigerants to the atmosphere.
  • Further appropriate licenses/permits for trades are a plus, i.e., Journeyman or Master Electrician License, City Licenses, Operators License, Steam Engineers License, etc.
  • The job may necessitate passing a government clearance for specific agencies necessary for job functions.
  • Basic computer skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word, and knowledge of CMMS software.
  • Experience in operation, maintenance, and basic repair of HVAC, heaters, pumps, refrigerant systems, compressors, water systems, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques, and operations.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written), organization skills, technical proficiency, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and interpersonal skills.
Working Environment And Physical Demands
  • This job operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment and technology such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
  • May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may be required to work extended periods without relief when responding to priority/emergency situations.
  • May require shift work and/or on-call duties.
  • Must have the ability to stoop, stand, climb, frequently lift a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pumps, tools, ladders), and safely install rigging/lifting devices.
  • Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine.
