At Spark Power Corp, we offer a dynamic career opportunity for an Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations and maintenance services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution systems and equipment.

About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. You will work closely with our site supervisor and journeyman electricians to plan, install, maintain, and repair electrical power systems and equipment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications
  • Planning layout and illustration of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining various electrical systems and related equipment
  • Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and ensure compliance with applicable codes
  • Assisting in QA/QC documentation
  • Reworking and/or repairing assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes
  • Identifying components and mounting nameplates and other identification tools according to wiring diagrams
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong background in electrical power systems engineering. To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to properly use basic tools such as power saws and drills and hand tools
  • A knowledge of and ability to interpret the Canadian Electric Code and Electrical Utility Code
  • Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities
  • Good communication and reading skills
  • The ability to travel
  • Safety tickets an asset (CSTS, First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Arrest, and Aerial Platform)
