Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at peopleCare Communities. As a member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents and collaborating with colleagues to achieve excellent patient outcomes.

About the Role

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional care. You will work closely with our Director of Care to ensure that all aspects of nursing care are met, and you will direct the work of nursing and personal care staff in the assigned unit.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure your practice and conduct meet legislative requirements.
  • Review 24-72 hour shift reports at the beginning of your shift.
  • Provide nursing care in accordance with established nursing standards and principles.
  • Implement physician's orders and administrative policies.
  • Process physician's orders as required.
  • Observe, report, and record vital signs, symptoms, and conditions of residents.
  • Initiate health measures where appropriate.
  • Affirm observance with required techniques in nursing care.
  • Prepare, implement, review, and evaluate resident plans of care.
  • Participate in scheduled and required assessment processes.
  • Monitor resident health and note any changes in conditions appropriately.
  • Initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Be accountable for resident safety according to your role.
  • Assess need for referral to physicians or other disciplines.
  • Administer medications as required.
  • Support RPNs in their roles.
  • Observe changes in resident condition resulting from medication.
  • Monitor safekeeping of drugs and narcotics.
  • Implement established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Participate in Nursing Restorative Programs.
  • Maintain competency.
  • Implement vision for resident care and services supporting GPA approach to resident care.
  • Participate in quality assurance meetings.
  • Advise on resident care needs utilizing the quality assurance model.
  • Stay informed and current on changes to Health and Safety.
  • Follow all Health and Safety and safe work practices and guidelines.
  • Identify and correct inappropriate work practices affecting Health and Safety of coworkers.
Requirements
  • Current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Must maintain competencies as per the governing College standards.
  • Experience in Long-Term Care is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
  • Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long-term care are assets.
  • Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills.
  • Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers.
  • Skills in using computer and Microsoft Office applications.
Estimated Salary

$85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
