Director of Accounting Policy

About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Director, Accounting Policies to join our team. As a key member of our Accounting Policies Group, you will be responsible for reviewing, researching, and documenting new International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and presenting to Senior Director for implementation. You will also guide, coordinate, and supervise the work performed by team members and external advisors in the performance of their accounting policy analyses.
Key Responsibilities- Review and document new IFRS and present to Senior Director for implementation
- Guide and coordinate the work of team members and external advisors in accounting policy analyses
- Oversee and provide training activities to internal clients on relevant accounting topics
- Manage technical quarterly and annual reviews of PSP's financial statements for compliance with applicable accounting standards
- Lead external financial reporting related to the Canada Growth Fund (CGF) and draft all related documents
- Analyze and review complex investment transactions and determine the appropriate accounting treatment
- Act as PSP's in-house expert in accounting reporting
- Manage and address ad hoc requests from business units while ensuring an integral understanding of operational needs
- Present findings to internal clients and/or senior management on the impact of changes in accounting standards, investment transactions, or business unit issue analyses
- Lead and/or present the Accounting Policies Group's view in technical discussions with internal or external auditors
- Design and maintain accounting and reporting processes to ensure effective use of team resources
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, specifically those pertaining to financial instruments and fair value
- Proven experience in drafting notes to financial statements and other external management reporting
- Proven ability to learn and grasp complex technical information in a reasonable timeframe
- Initiative and resourcefulness in proposing solutions to various accounting issues

- Ability to navigate a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy
- Effective communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate complex accounting information to a non-technical audience
