Epidemiologist, Immunization and Vaccine Preventable Diseases Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Epidemiologist to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As an Epidemiologist, you will play a critical role in preventing and controlling communicable diseases and promoting environmental health for the province of BC.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain surveillance initiatives, including designing and implementing studies, analyzing data, and preparing reports.
- Ensure timely and effective communication of reports by improving surveillance systems, reducing turn-around times, and alerting stakeholders to potential threats.
- Analyze communicable disease data, identifying and responding to deviations from expected reporting patterns and clusters of disease/hazards.
- Provide consultation services to regional health authorities, other provincial partners, national partners, and health care professionals.
- Evaluate existing programs and research relevant to the prevention and control of communicable diseases, conducting literature reviews, designing and implementing studies, collecting and analyzing data, and writing reports.
- Assist with budget preparation, briefing note development, and justification of program expenditures.
- Represent Epidemiology Services and BCCDC on various internal and external working groups, including national and provincial committees.
- A Master's degree in Epidemiology or Public Health, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of public health.
- Clinical skills and experience in nursing or infection control, or experience as a communicable disease epidemiologist or federal field epidemiologist.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in maintaining large databases of statistical and analytical software.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to use a variety of statistical software tools.
