Job Title: Epidemiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiologist to join our team at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). As an Epidemiologist, you will play a critical role in preventing and controlling communicable diseases and promoting environmental health for the province of BC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain surveillance initiatives to monitor and track communicable diseases and environmental hazards.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into outbreaks and clusters of disease to identify causes and develop effective interventions.
  • Provide consultation services to regional health authorities, other provincial partners, national partners, and health care professionals to support the development of public health initiatives.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement studies, collect and analyze data, and write reports to inform public health policy and practice.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in epidemiology and public health to ensure the highest level of expertise and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Epidemiology or Public Health (MSc or MPH or MHSc) and a minimum of 2 years experience in the field of public health.
  • Experience in sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections (STBBI) and tuberculosis as a communicable disease surveillance epidemiologist or federal field epidemiologist is considered an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in maintaining large databases of statistical and analytical software.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and flexibility.
