Epidemiologist - Communicable Disease Control

We are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiologist to join our team at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). As a key member of our Clinical Prevention Services team, you will play a critical role in preventing and controlling communicable diseases and promoting environmental health for the province of BC.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain surveillance initiatives to monitor and track communicable diseases and environmental hazards.
- Conduct thorough investigations into disease outbreaks and environmental hazards, analyzing data and identifying trends and patterns.
- Provide expert consultation services to regional health authorities, other provincial partners, national partners, and health care professionals on disease prevention and control strategies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and implement studies, collect and analyze data, and write reports on disease prevention and control initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of epidemiology and public health, applying this knowledge to inform policy and program development.
- Master's degree in Epidemiology or Public Health (MSc or MPH or MHSc) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of public health.
- Experience in sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections (STBBI) and tuberculosis as a communicable disease surveillance epidemiologist or federal field epidemiologist is considered an asset.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in maintaining large databases of statistical and analytical software, including R, Python, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, or GIS analysis.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams and provide effective consultation services to stakeholders.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
