We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Community Engineer to join our team at Canonical. As a Community Engineer, you will play a key role in enabling community leaders and participants to achieve their goals, while ensuring that community processes are efficient and well-run.
Key Responsibilities- Support community initiatives with technical skills and strong organizational abilities
- Collaborate with developers to smooth processes and integrate community plans with Canonical plans
- Encourage and facilitate the creation of new technical projects that enhance the community contribution experience
- Represent community interests to Canonical teams
- Engage with volunteer developers in the Ubuntu community, addressing their concerns and helping them to create successful tools
- Provide content and technical support to ensure the community stays engaged and informed
- Communicate effectively with developers and software engineers, representing the Ubuntu community and Canonical in the wider Linux ecosystem
- Experience with developer tools and open source projects
- Technical skills in Linux, DevOps, software development, testing and QA, package management, and container technology
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work autonomously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to new technology
- Experience working with open source communities and understanding the workflow of volunteer contributors
