About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team at Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites Halifax. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our hotel and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweeping and Cleaning: Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hallways, floors, and stairs to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Waste Management: Empty trash cans and other waste containers to prevent litter and maintain a clean atmosphere.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform minor repairs on appliances, make adjustments to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Safety and Security: Perform safety and security checks to ensure the well-being of our guests and staff.
  • Heavy Lifting: Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair.
  • Work Environment: Work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Seasonal Tasks: Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during winter months.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Language: English is the primary language of communication.
  • Work Schedule: 30 to 40 hours per week.
