Job Title: Educational Program Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Program Assistant to join our team at Highland Park Junior High. As an Educational Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our students.

Job Summary:

The Educational Program Assistant will provide support to students with diverse needs, including those with Down's Syndrome and Autism. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing individualized education plans, providing behavioral support, and assisting with daily living skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement individualized education plans and provide behavioral support to students with diverse needs
  • Assist students with daily living skills, including toileting, personal care, and use of assistive technology
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies to support students with challenging behaviors
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure seamless support and services
Requirements:
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Light lifting (up to 20 pounds)
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Trained or willing to be trained in toileting, personal care, and use of assistive technology
  • Experience working with students with Down's Syndrome and Autism
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution
