The First Nations University of Canada invites applications for a one-year term Assistant Professor position in English and Indigenous Literatures.

This opportunity will appeal to those who enjoy teaching from an Indigenous perspective in an intimate and interactive class setting, with a strong commitment to research and community service within Indigenous communities.

The university provides a unique environment for students of all nations to learn in an atmosphere of First Nations cultures and values. The institution upholds its mission of enhancing the quality of life, preserving, protecting, and interpreting the history, language, culture, and artistic heritage of First Nations people.

The successful candidate will instruct introductory and senior undergraduate courses in English and Indigenous Literatures from an Indigenous perspective. Applicants should have an interest in Indigenous protocols and working with Elders and communities, along with participation in university committee service.

Preference may be given to candidates with a PhD (or near completion) in English with a focus on Indigenous literatures and creative writing, demonstrating excellence in research and publication, as well as an established teaching record.

Experience working, teaching, or living in a First Nations environment and ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
