Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Academic Leader to join our team as Associate Vice-President Academic. In this role, you will provide leadership in the areas of Indigenizing the University's academic work, developing and supporting distance education and community-based programs, and overseeing general academic program development and approval.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Administration: Provide innovative, flexible leadership to the University faculty and staff. Develop, coordinate, and administer the review and process for the introduction of all new academic courses/programs and revision of existing courses/programs.
  2. Indigenization and Community Engagement: Continue and enhance the Indigenization of the academic work of the institution. Develop relationships and maintain effective communications with the community, campuses, and academic units.
  3. Academic Program Development: Work with the Department Heads and Coordinators to ensure the effective operation of the academic activities of the University. Administer, oversee, and facilitate matters pertaining to community-based programs.
  4. Facilities and Operations: Ensure that existing space is used effectively and develop plans for additional facilities. Manage the administrative functions through supervision of employees in areas of Plant, Property & Maintenance, and Human Resources.

Requirements:

  • A PhD from a recognized university
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in academic administration at a senior level
  • A strong record in teaching, research, community service, work with Elders, and Aboriginal communities is preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous pension plan.
