PCL Construction is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team in Montreal. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a critical role in delivering accurate and comprehensive estimates for our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Estimate Development: Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents, including isometric, as-built, and engineering drawings, to determine overall project requirements.
- Schedule Management: Establish a critical path schedule, including milestone dates and completion timelines, to meet contract completion dates for large projects.
- Quantity Take-Off: Complete full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials for larger scopes.
- Pricing and Bid Management: Lead pricing the general expense and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects, including lump sum and construction management.
- Estimate Presentation: Assist in presenting estimate/proposal and prepare and deliver client presentations.
- Document Management: Document all information relating to the estimate and archive and organize such information to transfer to the project team upon successful award.
- Risk and Opportunity Analysis: Conduct a risk and opportunity analysis for review by chief estimator to add into risk register.
- Client Liaison: Liaise with external consultants and project management organizations to estimate project budget requirements and coordinate tender development process on behalf of clients.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor client project-specific success criteria (CPSSC); specifically understand owners' business requirements, revenue generation, and provide solutions.
- Team Leadership: Hold team accountable and challenge team and project to find creative solutions for overall project benefit.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
- Certification: Gold Seal certification in estimating required (CDN).
- Experience: 12 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating with 12 months of onsite experience preferred.
- Leadership: Successfully led pursuits valued up to $250 million in delivery model hard bid/lump sum, construction management/cost reimbursable/target price and/or design build.
- Self-Perform Estimate: Experience with self-perform estimate and productivity understanding.
- Construction Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of different construction methods, planning, scheduling, sequencing, potential problems, and timelines.
- Estimating Expertise: Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing, and bid closing procedures.
- Contract Understanding: Expert in understanding and teaching contract terms for various delivery models and able to identify contract risks and opportunities.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead successful teams.
- Communication Skills: Resourceful and self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Relationship Building: Strong ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with owners, peers, and industry representatives, and leverage the industry relationships for a competitive advantage.
