As a Health Care Social Worker, you will be primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. A minimum of two years of post-BSW related clinical experience is required.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and previous experience working in adult community mental health. You will also have demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach and familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches for use with people with severe and persistent mental illness.
We are seeking a candidate with excellent communication skills, ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments, and demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
Key Responsibilities- Provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum
- Build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem-solving skills
- Use a client-/family-centered approach and evidence-based treatment approaches
- Work collaboratively with community partners and healthcare teams
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments and provide effective communication
The Nova Scotia Health Authority offers a competitive salary of $42.89 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
