The Alberta Teachers' Association is seeking a highly skilled and organized individual to fill the role of Administrative Supervisor, Teacher Employment Services. This permanent full-time position is based at Barnett House in Edmonton, providing an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to supporting teachers and advancing public education.

Job Overview

This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of the program area by coordinating administrative tasks, supervising support staff, and collaborating with stakeholders. The successful candidate will have the ability to multitask, manage priorities, and maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct support staff, providing guidance and direction to ensure they meet standards and deadlines.
  • Monitor the work of support staff, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Hire, train, and evaluate staff, ensuring they have access to professional development opportunities.
  • Provide administrative support to subgroups, including tracking changes, preparing charters, and creating addendums.
  • Coordinate annual training seminars for subgroup treasurers, secretaries, and webmasters.
  • Act as administrator for Local Executive, School Representative, and Student Local collaboration sites.
  • Assist with production of handbooks for local secretaries, school representatives, and student locals.
  • Process grant-in-aid claims and coordinate logistical requirements for conferences and events.
  • Track requests for workshops and seminars, collaborating with staff officers to determine which events will be offered.
  • Generate reports revealing trends in calls received by Teacher Employment Services staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Three years of progressive administrative and supervisory experience in a professional setting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI is an asset.
  • Experience working in a member-driven association is an asset.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong customer-service, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize, plan, multitask, and manage shifting priorities while working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
