About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Leader to join our team at Amazon Data Services Canada, Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading engineers, guiding them towards best data development practices, and defining the priorities and vision of the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product and SDE teams to build data systems that simplify bringing new models to customers and enhance visibility into our underlying modeling process.
  • Work with our team to operate the public Customer Carbon Footprint Tool and release data to tens of thousands of AWS customers each month.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers on data engineering best practices.
  • Familiarity with data architectures built on AWS services, such as Redshift, Glue, S3, and Step Functions.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics experience.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting protocols such as GHG Protocol.
