Job Overview

We are looking for a seasoned labor relations expert to develop and execute the global labor relations strategy for our organization. This role will oversee the labor relations function across multiple regions and countries, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations, managing collective bargaining processes, resolving labor disputes, and fostering positive labor-management relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement labor relations strategies that align with business objectives and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Partner with senior management to ensure labor relations policies and practices are aligned with business goals.
  • Act as Nutrien Lead spokesperson in collective bargaining and negotiation of Letters of Understanding at unionized sites.
  • Oversee the overall collective bargaining strategy, including coordination with HR Business Partners and other functions.
  • Foster strong labor relations by developing positive working relationships with labor union leaders.
  • Liaise with the Integrity Department to provide support for investigations and coordinate with HR Business Partners.
  • Provide guidance to HR Business Partners and coordinate labor relations decisions regarding discipline, contract interpretation, policy interpretation, and grievance resolutions.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of education on Nutrien's labor relations strategy and key labor-related topics.
  • Participate in and coordinate all matters pertaining to labor relations, including grievance arbitrations and hearings.
  • Seek legal opinions on labor matters as needed.
  • Lead special projects regarding unionized teams, such as restructuring and downsizing initiatives.
  • Provide labor relations summaries to Executive Leadership Team and the board as needed.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 15+ years of related experience in human resources, with a majority in labor relations.
  • 5+ years of progressive management and leadership experience.
  • An undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, or a relevant discipline.
  • Professional designation in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a similar field (optional).
  • Extensive experience in unionized environments, grievance administration, and collective bargaining.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Thorough mentoring and coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in conflict resolution and relationship building.
Estimated Salary Range

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience.
