About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team at Matheson Sweets & Catering. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading our kitchen operations and ensuring that our food meets the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Develop and implement new cooking techniques and equipment training for our cooking staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Create innovative and delicious recipes that showcase our culinary expertise and meet the tastes of our customers.
  • Supervise and mentor our cooks and kitchen staff to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively.
  • Plan and execute menus that meet our quality standards and exceed customer expectations.
  • Supervise the activities of our sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina to work in a physically demanding environment.
Work Environment

Our kitchen is a fast-paced and dynamic environment where you will be working with a team of experienced chefs and kitchen staff. You will be required to work in a wet/damp environment with occasional exposure to hot temperatures and odours.
