Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Registration Clerk Ophthalmology Clinic to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize a computerized scheduling system to schedule and book patient appointments and follow-up appointments, ensuring accurate and timely communication with patients and clinicians.
- Receive and register patients, ensuring accurate and complete patient demographics and information, and follow up with appropriate parties as necessary.
- Perform referral functions, including data entry, paperwork processing, and scheduling new referrals based on established criteria.
- Provide receptionist and clerical support, including answering telephones, responding to inquiries, and maintaining accurate records and statistics.
- Assemble and maintain client charts, utilizing established procedures and filing documentation.
- Provide clerical support to the department, including booking meetings, following up on action items, and maintaining accurate records.
Requirements
- Grade 12, plus two (2) years' recent experience in a healthcare setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to keyboard 45 wpm and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and deal with others effectively.
- Ability to organize work and operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
