Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned lawyer to expand their expertise and build a rewarding career in a supportive environment. As a Family Law Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering top-notch legal representation to clients navigating family law matters.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in complex family law cases
  • Negotiate and mediate settlements and agreements with opposing parties or counsel
  • Prepare and file court documents and pleadings with precision and attention to detail
  • Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and appeals with confidence and poise
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on relevant laws, precedents, and facts
  • Collaborate effectively with other professionals, such as social workers, psychologists, and accountants
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client files and records
  • Foster strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and the community

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws degree from an accredited law school
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
  • A minimum of one year of articling experience under the supervision of a qualified lawyer
  • Demonstrated expertise in family law, including a strong knowledge of the Family Law Act and Divorce Act
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, concise language
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
  • High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues alike
