Job Overview: The Cowichan District Hospital is seeking a highly skilled General Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health and Substance Use programs, working collaboratively with primary care providers in our 15 bed Psychiatry In-Patient Unit.

About the Role:

  • Provide psychiatric services for seniors and tertiary care facilities.
  • Support a crisis response team for the Emergency Department.
  • Consult to Short Term Services, Case Management Services, and Substance Use programs.
  • Collaborate with community responses to the opioid crisis.
  • Participate in a graduated housing program for people to live in the community.

About You:

  • Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License: Provisional
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC): Eligible
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA): Mandatory

  • A competitive estimated salary of $250,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
