We are seeking a highly skilled Child Mental Health Specialist to join our team in the Cowichan Valley. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a compassionate and collaborative team dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families.

Salary

The salary for this position is estimated to be between $85,563.25 and $97,633.20 annually, including a 4-grid temporary market adjustment.

Job Description

As a Child Mental Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct clinical services, including intake services, assessment, treatment, and some crisis intervention. You will work closely with our team members, community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other ministry programs to provide comprehensive care, including individual, group, and family therapy.

You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and passionate team to make a meaningful positive difference in the lives of children, youth, and their families facing emotional and behavioral challenges.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or Child and Youth Care, or a comparable graduate degree at the Master's level in a similar subject may be considered.
  • A minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community-based mental health services.
  • A valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).

This is a temporary opportunity until January 6, 2026. Flexible work options are available, and this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

This position requires a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA). Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
