Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in the Inpatient Neuroscience Program at Hamilton General Hospital. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients with stroke and neurology conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with stroke and neurology conditions
  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing assessments, and implementing interventions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
Requirements
  • Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Current Medication Administration and Asepsis certificates
  • Current certificates or current Community College studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, patient assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, IV administration, venipuncture, and management, transcribing physician orders
  • Current Heart and Stroke Foundation BCLS certification or equivalent
  • Completion of Physical Assessment Course
  • Minimum 2 years, recent experience in an acute adult medical/surgical unit, preferably with Stroke/Neurology patients
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and decision-making in assessment, problem identification, and problem-solving
  • Ability to prioritize and collaborate with the team when patient conditions change
  • Evidence of commitment to professional practice and ongoing professional development
