Director of Industrial Optimization and Carbon Management

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Industrial Optimization and Carbon Management at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of technologies that promote the sustainability of Canada's energy and carbon-intensive industries.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct the work of multi-disciplinary research teams targeting different aspects of GHG emission reductions from energy and carbon-intensive industries.
- Establish unique R&D capabilities and an up-to-date knowledge base within the federal government to serve the needs of Canadian stakeholders.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance energy efficiency and reduce environmental footprints in the energy sector.
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
- Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
- Experience leading Research & Development (R&D) projects, including proposal preparation, resource allocation, budget, and project management.
- Experience supervising a multi-disciplinary team, including scientists, engineers, or technologists, in the delivery of R&D projects.
- Experience using and developing partnerships or networks to leverage resources to deliver R&D projects.
- Experience preparing recommendations for director-level audiences based on R&D results.
- Postgraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field.
- Experience in the delivery of R&D projects or programs internationally.
- Experience authoring technical articles for peer-reviewed technical or scientific journals.
- Experience chairing standards committees or national/international working groups.
- Experience conducting or managing R&D in one or more of the following areas: carbon capture, utilization, storage, and transportation; carbon dioxide removal; methane emissions; hydrogen generation and storage.
The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. They will also be required to travel, both domestically and internationally, as required.
Security Clearance:The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Language Requirements:Bilingualism (English and French) is required for this position.
