We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Renewable Energy Architect to join our team at the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Our team provides consulting engineers, data insights, deep technology expertise, modeling, and software solutions to ensure sites perform optimally.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to determine the type, style, and purpose of renovations or new building construction.
  • Generate building plans and detailed drawings for use by contractors and tradespersons.
  • Manage the coordination and integration of technical activities in architecture or engineering projects.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, focusing on design, construction time, price, or other aspects.
  • Participate in contract negotiations.
  • Project management.
  • Supervise the preparation of drawings, specifications, and other construction documents for use by contractors and tradespersons.
  • Work within limiting factors, such as town planning laws and environmental impact assessments.
  • Conceptualize and design buildings, developing plans that describe design specifications, building materials, costs, and construction schedules.
  • Perform Life Cycle Analysis to determine the embodied emissions of buildings and identify opportunities to reduce the carbon footprint.
  • Utilize BIM modeling and LCA software to produce embodied carbon results, meeting Zero Carbon Building, LEED, Toronto Green Standard, or similar standards.
  • Review and assess emerging codes, standards, and policies in the industry, preparing summary briefs for teams and practice leaders to shape the company's agenda on energy and carbon reduction.
  • Assist in the green building rating process for various institutional, commercial, and high-rise residential buildings.

Your Requirements

  • Minimum Degree in Architecture technology, Architecture.
  • Understanding of Carbon Footprint concept.
  • Architectural software programs.
  • AutoCAD.
  • Computer-aided design (CAD).
  • Understanding of various energy systems (Heat pumps, steam turbine, Biomass, solar, PV, CHP, boilers, HVAC, etc.).
  • Experience within the energy, building services, utilities, or similar.
  • Understanding of Carbon footprint calculation and greenhouse emission calculations.
  • This position is open to candidates who hold Canadian citizenship, Canadian permanent residency status, or Canadian refugee status.
  • This position is open to participants who are aged 15-30.
