Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Japanese Chef to lead our kitchen team at Sehmi Japanese Restaurant.

About the Role
  • Plan and execute menus, ensuring high-quality dishes that meet our culinary standards.
  • Determine food portion sizes and costs to maintain profitability.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to source fresh ingredients and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Chef Leadership: Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and efficiency.
  2. Menu Planning: Develop and execute menus that showcase our commitment to authentic Japanese cuisine.
  3. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies and equipment as needed to maintain optimal kitchen operations.
  4. Food Safety and Quality: Ensure all food is prepared and served safely, meeting or exceeding local health and safety regulations.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless execution of events and promotions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a senior chef role, preferably in a Japanese restaurant.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and cooking techniques.
