We are seeking an experienced Master Carpenter to join our team at Professional Millwork Ltd.
Job SummaryThis is a permanent, full-time position that involves working with various materials such as wood, steel, and other composites. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of building codes, measuring tools, and computer software systems.
About the RoleThe Master Carpenter will be responsible for reading blueprints, preparing layouts, and cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials. You will also schedule and coordinate work on sites, survey building locations, estimate costs and materials, and operate CADD and other computer software systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
- Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
- Scheduling and co-ordinating work on sites
- Surveying building locations and levels
- Estimating costs and materials
- Operating CADD and other computer software systems
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
The physical demands of this job include:
- Bending, crouching, kneeling
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking
- Handling heavy loads
- Physically demanding
