Government Relations Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Government Relations Specialist to join our team at ALS Society of Canada. As a key member of our advocacy team, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of our advocacy and community engagement strategies.

Your Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development and implementation of government relations and advocacy programs
- Analyzing federal and provincial policies, reports, legislative initiatives, and other current events to identify areas of relevance to ALS Canada and opportunities to advance our advocacy efforts
- Maintaining relationships with elected officials, political staff, bureaucrats, and other health sector partners and health charity partners
- Creating and editing public-facing communications content and materials in support of our advocacy efforts
- Providing support for advocacy initiatives, such as report releases, lobby days, and public engagement campaigns
- Coordinating logistics related to government meetings and events
- Drafting pre-budget submissions and other public- and government-facing materials designed to advance ALS Canada's advocacy priorities
Your Ideal Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A university degree or college diploma in public policy, government relations, public administration, political science, humanities, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in government relations, advocacy, and public policy development, preferably with a focus on healthcare
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal and provincial (Ontario) political environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills, with experience in multi-tasking, prioritizing competing demands, and meeting deadlines

Compensation Package
The estimated salary range for this role is between $65,000 and $85,000 per year, depending on experience. This includes a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career growth and professional development.
