About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Water Quality Modeler to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our environmental consulting team, you will play a critical role in leading and directing water quality modeling and assessment work, primarily in the Canadian mining sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review proposed scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for water quality and environmental assessment projects.
  • Manage individual and team workloads, and identify staffing lists for each project.
  • Develop, direct, and oversee the execution of model development, calibration, and validation, as well as technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and other project deliverables.
  • Oversee project plans and assessment approaches, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Manage, analyze, and interpret measured and modeled data, providing oversight and quality control for data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary project teams to acquire environmental permits, water licenses, and approvals from regulatory agencies.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior and intermediate staff to develop their technical skills, project experience, and general consulting and decision-making skills.
  • Actively promote a culture of health and safety.
  • Take an active role in developing and maintaining client relationships and business development opportunities.
Requirements
  • A university degree (M.Sc. or higher preferred) in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in water quality modeling, with knowledge of multiple software modeling packages.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and delivering work products in a timely fashion, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with regulatory processes.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and technical skills.
