Psychiatrist Opportunity at Homewood Health Centre

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Homewood Health Centre, a leading provider of medically focused, evidence-based treatment of mental health and addiction disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical psychiatric care to patients in our inpatient Assessment and Stabilization & Comprehensive Psychiatric Care units
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based treatments and superior treatment outcomes
  • Diagnose and manage psychiatric disorders, including complex and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management and referral to specialized services as needed
  • Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care, including daily rounds and individual assessments
  • Collaborate with other physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to provide optimal patient care
  • Document patient care, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, and weekly progress notes
Requirements:
  • Specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College
  • Experience with diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence, with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital
  • Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
