Psychiatrist

Homewood Health Centre is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team in Guelph, Ontario. As a Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing clinical psychiatric care to patients in our inpatient Assessment and Stabilization & Comprehensive Psychiatric Care units.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide ongoing supervision and management of clinical/patient care including daily rounds and sufficient individual assessments with the patient to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met
- Collaborate with other physicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals in providing optimal patient care within an interdisciplinary team
- Complete documentation including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes and finally, a comprehensive discharge summary of the highest quality to ensure the medical record is meaningful and useful and a treatment plan can be established by the team
- Utilize electronic medical platforms such as Caseworks and BDM (training provided)
- Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained
- Liaison with third party referrers as needed for continuity of care (VAC, WSIB)
- A specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Experience with diagnosis and management of, complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders is preferred
- Interest to work with complex and comorbid disorders as well as ongoing learning and teaching to continually enhance patient care
- Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis and complex problem solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital
- Working knowledge of Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a welcomed asset
