Job Summary

The University of Lethbridge is seeking a highly skilled Digital Engagement Specialist to join its team. This full-time position will be responsible for creating and maintaining website, digital communication, and social media content that drives meaningful engagement with alumni and donors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital communications, online communities, and social media platforms, preferably in higher education. They will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing web-based projects, communications, and social media activities that align with the University's brand strategy and External Relations priorities.

The Digital Engagement Specialist will manage Alumni Relations social channels, playing a central role in how the University engages with its audiences. They will also provide support to other units interested in engaging alumni by identifying the appropriate channels, developing content, and ensuring alignment with the broader alumni engagement strategy.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to stay on top of emerging trends and best practices related to web design, user experience, social media, digital marketing, and digital communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital communication strategies that align with the University's brand strategy and External Relations priorities.
  • Manage Alumni Relations social channels and create engaging content that drives meaningful interactions with alumni and donors.
  • Provide support to other units interested in engaging alumni by identifying the appropriate channels, developing content, and ensuring alignment with the broader alumni engagement strategy.
  • Stay on top of emerging trends and best practices related to web design, user experience, social media, digital marketing, and digital communications.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and decision-makers to advance an integrated and cross-functional work plan consistent with the University's brand strategy and External Relations priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, digital communications, online journalism, and/or public relations.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, including social media posts and website content.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of online communities and social media platforms, preferably in higher education.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and responsive client service, including building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and digital communications colleagues.
  • A commitment to collaboration and teamwork, and a consultative approach.
  • Experience with website management or CMS systems (e.g. Drupal, WordPress, etc.).
  • Proven experience in creating and editing content for the web and social media.
  • Experience with creative design software, ideally the CS Suite, would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with social media management platforms would be an asset.
  • Experience with audience groups including alumni, donors, community partners, faculty, and staff would be ideal.

Salary Range

$4,772.00 - $5,403.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 11)
