Audit Risk Management Leader

The Audit Quality & Risk Management (AQRM) team supports the implementation of programs, policies, and practices to manage risk at RSM Canada LLP. We monitor the firm's audit practice by executing activities such as monitoring the System of Quality Management (CSQM 1), facilitating inspections by regulatory bodies, and internal monitoring. AQRM works closely with the National Professional Standards Group (NPSG) to create and monitor policies, tools, guidance, and training. Relocation is not required. You will have exposure working with RSM US LLP on certain projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and report to the Audit Quality and Risk Leader in Canada
- Lead and oversee engagement level monitoring/internal monitoring to ensure alignment with firm, global, and regulatory requirements
- Lead and oversee monitoring related to the System of Quality Management (SOQM) and its implementation of CSQM1/ISQM1
- Plan and assist with inspections by regulatory bodies, including CPAB, PCAOB, CPA Provincial bodies, and CIRO
- Coach and support engagement teams during external file inspections
- Work closely with AQRM members to evaluate the System of Quality Management annually
- Perform Root Cause Analysis on audit quality issues identified through annual evaluations, regulatory reviews, and other monitoring programs
- Prepare and present status updates for leadership, prepare communications for senior executives on regulatory inspection audit quality matters
- Participate in various quality initiatives, including coaching engagement leaders and teams on selected audit quality topics
- Develop and deliver continuing professional education courses
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- CPA license in good standing (in principal place of business)
- Minimum 8 years of post qualification experience
- Working knowledge of CAS, IFRS, and ASPE
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Robust performance history and demonstration of excellence
- Strong social and people skills and ability to adapt quickly to change
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
- Ability to develop and maintain applicable professional and internal contacts
- Exhibit high attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, including guiding, mentoring, and developing team members
- Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills for multiple and/or complex projects
At RSM, we offer a competitive compensation package that includes a salary range of $105,000 - $178,500 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
