We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Analyst to join our team at the City of Kitchener. As a key member of our Financial Operations division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll processes.
About the RoleThis is a 35-hour per week position, Monday to Friday (8:30 – 4:30) located at City Hall in Kitchener. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting and payroll, with experience working with large ERP systems such as PeopleSoft and SAP.
Key Responsibilities- Reconcile payroll accounts and subsystems on a regular basis, identifying errors and preparing entries to rectify differences.
- Assist the Payroll Supervisor with year-end functions, including OMERS reporting, T4 reporting, and sick/vacation balance issues.
- Analyze payroll benefit costs by pay groups, providing benefit cost information to HR, Financial Planning, and Accounting Management for planning and bargaining purposes.
- Assist with research of accounting treatment and legislative requirements for payroll-related items.
- A minimum of one year full-cycle payroll experience and year-end reporting.
- Experience working with large ERP systems, preferably PeopleSoft, SuccessFactors, and SAP.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation and union contracts.
- Highly developed computer skills, particularly in advanced spreadsheets, word processing, database, and report writer.
The City of Kitchener offers a competitive salary range of $70,041 - $87,553 annually, effective November 1, 2024: $71,959 - $89,950. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, we offer opportunities for professional growth and development.
