About the Opportunity

Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health invite applications for a full-time academic family physician to join our dynamic Department of Family Medicine in Halifax. This role offers exceptional growth opportunities within academic family medicine, working closely with over 800 community-based family physicians across three Maritime provinces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality ambulatory, team-based, and comprehensive academic family medicine care, including clinical supervision of medical learners.
  • Contribute to collaborative team-based practice and clinical teaching, with a lead role in clinical care and teaching at the Dalhousie Family Medicine Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) service located at the DFM Spryfield Clinic.
  • Train and evaluate family medicine residents and medical students, contributing to the academic development and administration of the Dalhousie University Department of Family Medicine.
  • Lead academic responsibilities for the Halifax Adults with Intellectual Disabilities Clinic at the DFM Spryfield clinic.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must hold CFPC certification and be current members of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • They must also be eligible for a full license to practice in Nova Scotia.
  • Favourable consideration will be given to those applicants with evidence of advanced academic competencies, such as relevant Master's degrees or other certificates.

Benefits and Remuneration

This position comes with a competitive salary and academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. The estimated annual salary is $200,000 - $300,000, based on market rates and industry standards for this role. An appointment may commence as early as January 13, 2025. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
