Farm Labourer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Farm Labourer to join our team at St. Soldier Farms Inc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement plans to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient farm operations.
  • Grade and categorize produce according to size, shape, colour, and volume to maximize market value.
  • Perform greenhouse cleaning, mixing fertilizer, and other tasks as required.
  • Organize and coordinate tasks to achieve optimal farm productivity.
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops, and ensure their health and well-being.
  • Weed and fertilize crops, and apply pest control measures as necessary.
  • Harvest crops at the optimal time to ensure maximum quality and yield.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.
  • Maintain accurate financial and production records.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Provide agricultural crop services, including plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting.
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed at all times.
  • Detect and address disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry.
  • Perform general farm duties as required.
Requirements:
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically demanding work environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to distinguish between colours
  • Standing for extended periods and ability to lift heavy objects
  • 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a similar role
  • Permanent employment with 30 hours per week
  • English language proficiency
