About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and medical devices for the operating room and various areas of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontamination and sterilization of medical devices
  • Reassembly and function testing of medical devices
  • Distribution of medical devices to various areas of the hospital
  • Performing related clerical duties and record keeping
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program (Course with practicum preferred)
  • Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certification
  • Formal education in anatomy, medical terminology, microbiology, infection control preferred
  • Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia preferred
  • Previous experience working in the setting preferred
  • Experience operating MDR related equipment
  • Knowledge of Infection Control measures and Routine Practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to problem solve
  • An aptitude for tasks requiring manual dexterity and technical skill
  • Computer experience
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
