The Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the HR department to ensure they meet the organization's goals.

About the Job

This is a permanent, full-time position with an estimated salary of $80,000 per year. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and 5 years or more of experience in human resources.

Job Responsibilities

The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Assigning projects to subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labour relations and employee relations
  • Coordinating the activities of the HR department to ensure they meet the organization's goals
  • Directing and controlling daily operations
  • Directing staff
  • Evaluating daily operations
  • Planning and organizing daily operations
  • Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating human resources policies and programs
  • Reviewing HR projects to assure compliance with laws and regulations
  • Training staff
  • Advising managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs and collective agreements
  • Establishing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Mediating labour disputes and grievances
  • Planning, developing and implementing recruitment strategies
  • Administering benefit employment equity and other human resources programs
  • Managing training and development strategies
  • Researching employee benefits and health and safety practices and recommending changes
  • Overseeing the development of communication strategies
  • Overseeing the preparation of reports
  • Responding to employee questions and complaints
  • Hiring, training and supervising staff
  • Liaising with management, union officials and HR consultants
  • Providing customer service
  • Recruiting and hiring staff
  • Conducting performance reviews
  • Proposing improvements to methods, systems and procedures
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • 5 years or more of experience in human resources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently
  • Judgement and organized
  • Team player with client focus and efficient interpersonal skills
  • Reliability and accountability
