About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geospatial Full Stack Engineer to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. As a key member of our Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering (OCRE) Research Centre, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining web tools and services to advance our research capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop efficient and accessible online tools to support our research projects
  • Develop data-intensive web platforms to publish/share data, maps, dashboards, and run simulations
  • Develop custom geospatial web applications, dashboards, and tools to share specific scientific knowledge or datasets with the general population
  • Support researchers to continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize research efficiency related to climate change resilience and adaptation of coastal infrastructure
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Significant experience developing and designing architecture for Single Page Application (SPA) using React
  • Significant experience building and maintaining user interface components using React component libraries
  • Significant experience in building web application using mapping libraries and charting libraries
  • Experience building serverless applications using AWS cloud-based services
  • Experience with source control system Git, continuous integration tools, and deployment automation tools
  • Experience with Python, virtual environments, and data science packages to read, manipulate, and analyze large temporal and spatial datasets

    • Ability to develop and design architecture for Single Page Application (SPA) using JavaScript, NodeJS, NPM, and React
    • Ability to build and maintain user-interface components using React component libraries
    • Ability to manipulate geospatial data and develop custom react components using mapping and charting libraries
    • Ability to build serverless applications using AWS cloud-based services
    • Knowledge of source control system Git, continuous integration tools, and deployment automation tools
