We're seeking a talented Geospatial Full Stack Engineer to join our team at the National Research Council Canada (NRC), Canada's largest research and technology organization.

About the Role

As a Geospatial Full Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering (OCRE) Research Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. You will work closely with our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Team Lead to create and maintain web tools and services that advance OCRE's research capabilities and meet the needs of research and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and design architecture for Single Page Applications (SPAs) using JavaScript, NodeJS, NPM, and React;
  • Build and maintain user-interface components using React component libraries;
  • Manipulate geospatial data and develop custom React components using mapping and charting libraries;
  • Build serverless applications using AWS cloud-based services;
  • Work with source control system Git, continuous integration tools, and deployment automation tools;
  • Collaborate with researchers to discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize research efficiency related to climate change resilience and adaptation of coastal infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field;
  • Significant experience developing and designing architecture for SPAs using React;
  • Experience building and maintaining user-interface components using React component libraries;
  • Experience manipulating geospatial data and developing custom React components using mapping and charting libraries;
  • Experience building serverless applications using AWS cloud-based services;
  • Knowledge of source control system Git, continuous integration tools, and deployment automation tools;
  • Knowledge of Python, virtual environments, and data science packages to read, manipulate, and analyze large temporal and spatial datasets.
