Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Services Professional to join our team at Thompson Rivers University. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong analytical and organizational skills, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing bi-weekly pay for all employee groups, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government regulations and collective agreements. This includes reviewing and validating job and benefit information, creating payment schedules, and troubleshooting timesheet and approver access issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly pay for all employee groups, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government regulations and collective agreements.
  • Review and validate job and benefit information, including payroll reports and computer-generated output.
  • Create payment schedules for employees, taking into account earnings and deductions.
  • Troubleshoot timesheet and approver access issues, and resolve discrepancies in payroll reports.
  • Maintain confidential employee payroll records, and ensure accurate pension reporting.
  • Provide payroll-related assistance to employees and managers, and respond to queries from external agencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years related post-secondary education, plus one year specialized Canadian Payroll Association certification.
  • Five years payroll experience in a complex multi-functional environment, with knowledge of computerized accounting systems and electronic data entry.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work with multiple demands and deadlines.
  • Accurate processing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is between $55,000 - $65,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include comprehensive health and dental coverage, retirement savings plan, and generous vacation time.
