The Recovery Support Specialist plays a vital role in providing comprehensive support to individuals struggling with addiction and homelessness at The Mustard Seed Society. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those in need.

Job Overview

This is a full-time position that requires a strong understanding of addiction recovery modalities, community resources, and crisis management. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with residents to develop personalized recovery plans, provide emotional support, and connect them with essential services.

Estimated Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 per annum

Salary may vary based on location and experience. We offer a competitive compensation package including 100% employer-paid extended health and dental benefits for staff and dependents, matching RRSP after one year of service, and wellness days.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support: Develop relationships with residents, explore their needs, and create customized recovery plans.
  • Crisis Management: Identify unhealthy coping mechanisms, provide education on healthy alternatives, and implement de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Community Resources: Connect residents with local recovery resources, social services, and health agencies.
  • Professional Development: Complete required training, including FOIP, First Aid, CPR, Naloxone, NVCI, and De-escalation certification.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Diploma in Mental Health & Wellness or Addiction Counselling.
  • Related life/work experience is desired.
  • Broad knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to manage staff performance and crisis situations.
