About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Consultant to join our Property Large Loss team at Intact Financial Corporation.

As a Claims Consultant, you will be responsible for handling complex claims, including commercial property, energy, equipment breakdown, environmental liability, and specialty claims. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to investigate, analyze, and resolve claims, ensuring timely and fair outcomes for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and investigate large and complex commercial property claims, with exposures over $1M or involving specialized types of loss.
  • Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages.
  • Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long-term succession planning.
  • Train colleagues on complex claims handling and provide technical advice as needed.
  • Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned.
  • Provide excellent customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Deliver and exceed on key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
  • Appropriate knowledge of relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset).
  • Flexible to travel as needed.
