Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinician, Wound and Skin Care to join our team at Fraser Health. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong clinical expertise in wound care management and education.

About the Role

In this position, you will provide resident-centered consultation and clinical expertise in wound prevention and skin care management in Residential Care settings throughout Fraser Health. You will utilize evidence-informed practice and education theory to deliver high-quality care and educate staff on best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership in evidence-informed practice related to wound and skin care to staff and residents/families.
  • Role model direct resident care skills to staff and students, ensuring compliance with standards of practice.
  • Deliver educational activities to staff, students, and residents/families through teaching, facilitating groups, mentoring, and conducting formal presentations, demonstrations, and lectures.
  • Maintain staff education records as appropriate and develop and implement education programs, orientation, and professional development programs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs to ensure objectives are met and identify opportunities for quality improvement.
  • Perform advanced nursing skills in wound and skin care management and arrange preceptorship and mentorship for students and new staff regarding wound and skin care management.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course (IIWCC) or Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse (WOCN) Course supplemented by three years' recent experience in Wound and Skin Care within a residential/geriatric care setting.
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.

You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective relationships with staff, residents, families, and other healthcare professionals. You will also have strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work independently in an organized and self-directed manner.

Estimated Salary: $98,000 - $118,000 per year
