Track Maintenance Supervisor

As a key member of the RailWorks Corporation team, the Assistant Track Foreman plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of railway tracks. Reporting to the Track Maintenance Foreman, this position requires a strong understanding of track construction and maintenance principles, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing and directing a crew of workers to deliver a successful project by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability, and schedule.
- Repair and/or replace turnout components as needed, such as switch points, frogs, plates, etc.
- Repair and/or replace track components as needed, such as rail, ties, plates, spikes, timber crossings, etc.
- Observe conditions of track, track beds, and track right-of-way to detect, report, and repair problems or defects.
- Responsible for operating company vehicles and/or equipment and ensuring all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed.
- Perform special duties as assigned by the Track Maintenance Foreman.
- Perform any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System.
- Support the Track Maintenance Foreman to ensure that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment, and material.
- Maintain a dedication to safety at all times by modeling, providing education, and enforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
- Train and motivate workers.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1 year's related experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand project-specific documents, including schedules, standard railway plans, and specifications.
- Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
- Ability to supervise the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to the crew.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
- Strong client relations skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Works outdoors at construction sites.
- Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
- Exposed to all weather conditions, including very hot and very cold weather.
- Exposed to loud noise.
- Exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
- Ability to work rotating shifts.
