Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
Job Description
The Track Maintainer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of railroad tracks. This includes inspecting and repairing track components, such as switch points, frogs, plates, rails, ties, and timber crossings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Embrace a safety culture and adhere to industry and company policies and procedures
- Repair and/or replace turnout components as needed
- Repair and/or replace track components as needed
- Observe conditions of track, track beds, and track right-of-way to detect, report, and repair problems or defects
- Responsible operating company vehicles and/or equipment and ensures all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed
- Perform special duties as assigned by the Track Maintenance Foreman
- Perform any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Subject to be entered into the On-Call rotation for Track Maintenance Department with additional compensation as per the CBA
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year's related experience in the railway industry
- Knowledge of all aspects of track maintenance
- Track Inspection Guidelines certification is an asset
- Certified in Canadian Railway Operating Rules
- Ability to apply positive track protection through Track Occupancy Permits
- Ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans, and specifications
- Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards, railway engineering safety regulations, and safety precautions of the work being performed
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient use of computers, tablets, etc.
- Valid Ontario class G driver's license
