Executive Director Opportunity

Higher Talent Inc. is seeking a visionary and highly motivated individual to lead the Trailhead Development Company Inc. as its Executive Director. Located in the picturesque Parson's Pond region of Newfoundland and Labrador, this rare opportunity allows the successful candidate to create a personal legacy and contribute to the sustainability of rural communities.

The Opportunity

This is a unique chance for a strategic leader to drive the development of a comprehensive workforce strategy, leveraging the potential of the Great Coastal Trail and other regional tourism attractions. With a strong financial foundation and a board of experienced individuals providing support, the Executive Director will have the autonomy to make a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement short and long-term strategic plans, working closely with the board of directors to ensure sound governance practices and effective communication.
  • Financial Planning and Management: Oversee the financial health of the association, including budget development, timely reporting, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Operational and Project Management: Develop and execute an annual operational plan that supports the goals and objectives of the association.
  • Human Resource Management: Hire, lead, and coach a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
  • Economic Development: Research and develop innovative labour market strategies and pilot projects, leveraging emerging opportunities associated with the Great Coastal Trail.
  • Community Relations: Serve as the principal spokesperson for TDC, promoting and representing the association through public engagements, communication, and media interviews.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risk exposure associated with financial, operational, and reputational challenges.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in new enterprise start-up, board governance, accountability practice, and project management.
  • A Post-secondary Degree in an area relevant to the position.
  • Exceptional strategic and operational planning skills, including the ability to manage complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of community economic development models, workforce strategies, social entrepreneurship, and regional tourism development.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with various levels of government, private sector, and not-for-profits to build partnerships and expand leverage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, priority-setting, and critical thinking skills.
