About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization in driving community growth and development in rural areas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to advance our mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement short and long-term strategic plans to drive community growth and development.
  • Financial Planning and Management: Oversee the financial health of the organization, including budget development, financial reporting, and sound internal controls.
  • Operational and Project Management: Develop and execute an annual operational plan that supports the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Human Resource Management: Hire, lead, and coach a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
  • Economic Development: Research, develop, and promote innovative labour market strategies and pilot projects to drive economic growth in rural areas.
  • Community Relations: Serve as the principal spokesperson for the organization, promoting and representing our mission and goals through public engagements, communication, and media interviews.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, monitor, and limit risk exposure associated with financial, operational, cybersecurity, and reputational challenges.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in community development, economic development, or a related field.
  • A Post-secondary Degree in an area relevant to the position.
  • Exceptional strategic and operational planning skills, including the ability to manage complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of community economic development models and approaches, workforce strategies, social entrepreneurship, and opportunities and challenges facing rural communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with various levels of government, private sector, and other not-for-profits to build partnerships and drive economic growth.
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, media relations, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, priority-setting, and critical thinking skills.
