About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Safety Specialist to join our team at BC Hydro. As an Occupational Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and implement safety programs to prevent injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide Training and Education: Provide training and education to employees on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate Incidents: Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and develop corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with stakeholders, including employees, management, and external partners, to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of our operations.
Requirements
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma in a related field.
  • Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in occupational safety or a related field.
  • Certifications: Occupational Health and Safety Certificate.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Work Environment: Hybrid work arrangement.
